Three Sisters

When Father was alive, this place was packed… there was heat, laughter, life. Read more …

Olga, Masha and Irina long for the glamour of Moscow and to escape life in provincial Russia.

But with constant visits by soldiers and dignitaries, by family, friends and ‘acquaintances’; with work to be done and marriages to be honoured will they ever be free?

A play of life, love, loss, dreams, whimsy, hope - real and false - of moving and of remaining where you are.

The critical consensus

It’s rare that Chekhov’s plays, to his disappointment, elicits laugh-out-loud moments. This evening, the utter futility of the hopes and dreams of humans appears both stark and hilarious, just the way he would have wanted it.

Strong and empathetically direct.

****(*)Thom Dibdin, All Edinburgh Theatre, 18/03/2108

[A] fast-paced interpretation of the play with a jauntiness that gives it fresh life.

****(*)Neil Cooper, Coffee-Table Notes, 19/03/2018

Every one of those key Chekhovian themes and obsessions emerges with terrific clarity, humour and emotional directness.
