The hit TV show Fat Friends from award-winning Kay Mellor has burst onto the stage in a brilliant new musical. Read more …
Packed full of hope, humour, love and weight loss, this new stage show serves up a night full of laughter and audiences are loving it!
Fat Friends remains true to its working-class roots but doesn’t make fun of anyone and gives a heart-warming message that you don’t have to be a size 8 to be attractive. Love and happiness comes in all shapes and sizes – and the world is a better place for that.
It's harmless, energetic fun.
Fat Friends The Musical might not be the kind of show you see over and over again, but if you’re looking for a fun, feel-good night out then you can’t go too far wrong with what is an enjoyable production.
Theatre doesn’t always have to be clever to be enjoyable. Fat Friends: The Musical is unashamedly twee; it may not be an intellectual workout for its audience but is nonetheless a feel-good night of entertainment.
While it may have charm, Fat Friends relies on tried-and-tested formulas, which ultimately inhibit any real conversation about weight loss.
It echoes the famous words of RuPaul, “If you can’t love yourself, then how in the hell are you gonna love somebody else?” A life-affirming, hugely relatable piece of entertainment with the best singing you’ll hear on stage all year.
Although Fat Friends is presented as a fun and frivolous musical- there is much more to it. Underneath the humour and jaunty songs there's a clear message here about being happy in your own skin and not necessarily paying too much attention to what the media tells you is beautiful.
