The movie ‘Ghost’ has proven to be one of cinema’s biggest all-time hits. Starring the late Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg it was the highest grossing film of 1990 and won an Oscar for screenwriter Bruce Joel Rubin who has adapted his screenplay for this musical. The movie and the musical feature The Righteous Brothers’ Unchained Melody alongside many more terrific songs co-written by Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart.
Whether or not you’re a film fan, this production of Ghost is a genuinely touching voyage into a parallel world that most of us, at some point, would love to be real.
A run of the mill production which flips into creativity but dips into forgettability.
A refreshingly strong turn from Rebekah Lowings ensures that the latest touring production of Ghost The Musical is alive and vibrant...despite the show’s cloying sentimentality.
There’s something about the profound romantic self-absorption of the story that seems completely out of time; as if we, the audience, now need to move on, even more than Sam does.
The stage adaptation of the hit film is a heavenly slice of entertainment.
Although Ghost: The Musical can feel as weightless as a spectre, its insistence that we recognise the profound pain of losing a loved one redeems it from becoming a purgatory of predictable pop.
