Pitch-perfect scripting, pacing and performances conclusively prove it don’t take money to make a blockbuster for the ages.
A classic that stands the test of time travel.
The counter-Freudian drama is handled with easy wit and flair, like a Shakespearian disguise comedy, and it made a whopping star of Fox.
Romantic, funny, action-packed and nostalgic Back To The Future still remains the ultimate popcorn movie.
If you’re looking for a candidate for the best film of the 1980s, you won’t find too many better than this.
In retrospect, the first Back to the Future (which was superior to its two sequels) feels like an oasis in the parched desert of 1980s Hollywood movies; less sublime than ET, perhaps, but delightful and sophisticated to a degree beyond the dreams of today’s movies in similar vein.
Wearing its 25 years well, benefits hugely from the big screen and is welcome back.
