An amazing story, though tricky if you don’t have a working knowledge of Middle East politics.
The fact that both men refer to their activities repeatedly as ‘games’ adds to the sense of a film too wedded to drama, and not enough to a real exploration of the issues it raises.
One of the most incredible chapters in the war between Israel and Palestine deserves a better movie.
Gripping stuff.
The result is a film that is fascinating but also very frustrating. The beautiful friendship between Gonen and Mosab is anything but innocent or straightforward.
Though no film really has a hope of untangling the complexities of the conflict, this succeeds in putting a human face on them.
