An epic journey into the world of dinosaurs where an Apatosaurus named Arlo makes an unlikely human friend.
Given the work lavished on every detail of the glorious backdrop, it’s a pity that the story happening in front of it is so familiar and safe.
Simple but effective, The Good Dinosaur doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it’s still damn fine family entertainment. Slow to get going, it comes into its own when its heroes buddy up.
Not a Pixar classic.
With a heart as big as its prehistoric creations, The Good Dinosaur is a likeable if lesser Pixar, a slightly lumbering beast that takes time to find its footing.
It may be visually impressive, but this Jurassic outing lacks the passion and sophistication that we’ve come to expect from Pixar.
Action, humour, and saurian slapstick.
Not every Pixar animated feature can be a classic but The Good Dinosaur is still a handsome-looking family adventure.
In the end this is film about making a mark that isn’t able to make one of its own.
Not in the studio’s top tier best but, visually speaking, The Good Dinosaur signals a major evolutionary step in computer animation.
