Part Alien, part Gravity, just not as good as either of them. But Life whips along at a decent pace and deploys enough engaging action sequences to make it work.
It’s a serviceable, watchable, determinedly unoriginal film.
Although hardly lifeless, it's a film that emulates genre greats while appearing content to exist in their shadow.
A regrettably ropey simulation, offering scant new thrills or spills.
To call it derivative is to miss the point. Its premise may be familiar but there is plenty of energy and ingenuity in the way the filmmakers tackle their material.
Rebecca Ferguson, Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds play an enjoyably gory game of hide-and-seek with a hungry alien.
