A horror film in which a priest and a novice investigate a nun's suicide.
Too rackety and hackneyed to scare, The Nun groans next to the likes of Hereditary. Only the moody, menacing abbey inspires the right levels of belief.
It may be a familiar old dark castle runaround, but Corin Hardy delivers eerie images and nerve-scraping sound effects. Lapsed Catholics, in particular, will have nun nightmares after this.
Messy and underwhelming addition to The Conjuring universe.
The Nun is watchable to a point, but a suggestion would be to await the release on whatever streaming service has the rights to every film and binge the entire set. They do better together than individually.
