Over 40 fine paintings, dating from the late 14th to the 19th centuries, form the basis of our chronologically-themed displays. The exhibition also includes decorated arms and armour, fine sculpture, wonderful Venetian glass and fine ceramics, all of which provide a broader historical and artistic context for the paintings. All exhibits, including the paintings’ frames, have been specially conserved in preparation for their moment in the spotlight. Some of the paintings have not been displayed for many years, and several of these look very fresh and different from the last time they were shown.
