There is an uneasiness emanating from the stage which flows right into the audience. The latter became somewhat smaller in the course of the performance and understandably so -- there were problems both in style and content.
Durnin's production and Wymark's version mention that decay, but never make us feel the stench of it, as the soil in which Nana's character grows, and from which she draws her power.
