Screen star Maxwell Caulfield plays studio boss R F Simpson and Steps & West End leading lady Faye Tozer is the ‘uniquely voiced’ starlet Lina Lamont in this classic musical, full of high energy choreography and sumptuous set design (including 12,000 litres of water!), Singin’ in the Rain showers you with everything you could wish for in a hit musical.There is so much to recommend about this production; the set is stunning, the orchestra is superb but above all else, the cast are just wonderful. A triple joy.
A riot of glorious Technicolor based on the wonderful classic MGM musical, the show does not disappoint.
To anyone who loves the Golden Age of Hollywood, enjoys musicals, or just wants to be entertained or impressed, this is unreservedly recommended.
If you are a fan of the movie, this musical adds an extra spark of energy with its toe-tapping legendary songs and superb routines that will make you just “Gotta Dance”!
The emotional stakes may be low, but the feelgood factor is high.
It sets out to instil in its audience the same joy and invincibility that Lockwood feels when he performs the eponymous track. And it succeeds.
Yes, the show is still fresh and dandy today and, as the lyrics express, “What a glorious feeling… I’ve a smile on my face….”
Whether you are 9 or 90, Singin’ in the Rain is a great feel good musical that will brighten up your day. It certainly did mine!
