Some tender moments and nice staging choices however make the play a touching meditation on loss and the inconsistencies of legacy.
As it transfers to the Traverse from tomorrow, Edinburgh audiences will also have a chance to enjoy its hard-edged absurdist humour, and its complex layers of meaning.
In spite of the strong cast, who both minutely and fiercely display the complexities of their family relationships, this is largely a confusing, esoteric and unsatisfying play.
Take The Rubbish Out is interesting then, as a glimpse into present day Ukrainian life, but overall, not a wholly satisfying piece of work.
