Freya and Michael have been travelling around the world, celebrating their freedom before beginning University. Read more …
Everything had been going reasonably well, until they find themselves arrested after a problem at customs. Three weeks later, still in prison awaiting their court date, a defence barrister arrives to advise them of the choices they face and the possible outcomes of pleading guilty or innocent. Both Freya and Michael insist they cannot admit guilt to something they knew nothing about. Can the barrister broker a deal with the prosecution to save their futures? And will Freya and Michael make the right choice?
A sophisticated prison drama with grit, tension and no easy answers.
Pleading involves an element of pure game-playing with the audience’s expectations; over a bare 45 minutes, the plot offers more absorbing and credible twists than the average 500-page crime novel.
This has the tautness of a thriller, but never sacrifices the reality of the characters. There is also room for philosophical musings on the nature of truth, experience and relationships in an extremely impressive production.
Rob Drummond continues to surprise and entertain with his singularly enquiring mind.
