Every week more than 2 million women pour into local Bingo halls across the UK, each one hoping that all elusive HOUSE will change their fortunes forever. Read more …
Daniella’s one of those women. Except she isn’t just hopeful. She’s desperate. She needs Lady Luck to smile down on her tonight.
She’s done a bad thing. No, a really bad thing, and if her card doesn’t have those winning numbers, she’s going to have to resort to desperate measures to take home THAT prize money.
It’s moderately fun, but it really should have been a winner.
Glittering, dazzling and entertaining Bingo! is a comedy delight and essential entertainment.
Even as the plot does lose it's way, it is still an enjoyable night out with a lot of laughs, shocks and silly songs.
Bingo! provides an all- round terrific night out that deserves a full house every night.
Ortonesque tragi-comic shut-in by Grid Iron and Stellar Quines is hilarious and thought-provoking.
A musical about women at the bingo would seem a natural for a warm-hearted, reassuringly couthy comedy. Instead, Bingo! ends up as a much swearier, somewhat darker affair that provides entertainment but is let down by its structure.
A show that looks at best interesting, moving and full of potential, and at worst a chaotic and unfunny mess.
There is enough to recommend this eccentric musical, not least the spectacle of Rafferty on a wild-eyed amyl nitrate and energy drink binge.
There’s a mighty fine play in here somewhere, but it needs a heap of work to chisel away the excess baggage it’s currently saddled with before it can fully connect. While there is much to enjoy on a surface level, at the moment it feels like a first draft work-in-progress for something bigger, brasher and brighter yet to come.
The show’s virtues never quite add up to a satisfying whole.
A carefully considered cut of half-an-hour of material would, one suspects, enable this fabulously cast, often uproariously funny, sometimes quite moving musical to pack a stronger dramatic punch.
