Follow the fearless Wendy as she flies with Peter to Neverland - a world of dastardly pirates, feisty fairies and raucous lost boys. Read more …
This adaptation has all the magic and wonder of the original, as Wendy and Peter fly together above the rooftops and follow ‘the second star on the right and straight on till morning’ to Neverland. There they find all is not well in the kingdom of the Lost Boys, as the villainous Captain Hook wreaks havoc, can Wendy and Peter band together with fearsome fairy Tiger Lily and the irrepressible Tinkerbell to win the day?
Full of fairy-dust, adventure and all your favourite characters this magical story is everything a Christmas treat should be.
Old and new collide in Wendy and Peter Pan, a beautifully staged Lyceum Christmas production that combines originality with fidelity to the spirit of a much-loved classic.
For the most part, the two hours’ traffic of our stage under the all hands on deck direction of Eleanor Rhode is a swashbuckling adventure laced with cute one-liners from an energetic ensemble who through a series of breathless chases and choreographed fights are made to work for their tot of rum.
Wendy and Peter Pan soars its way to big bravura theatrical adventure that chimes perfectly with our times.
An enchanting, magical, funny, empowering production, which should not be missed this Christmas. Simply outstanding.
Is it worth going to see if you don’t have kids? Maybe, if you want something interesting to look at for a couple of hours, but aren’t expecting grand narrative. But if you’re looking for something that the younger people in your life might be able to connect with in a really meaningful, fun way? Absolutely.
Rumbustious, fast, furious and funny, yet full of magic and fairy dust, Wendy and Peter Pan will delight all ages: an awfully big adventure and the perfect Christmas show.
The result is an exquisite fantasia about healing, about growing up enough to keep the child within alive, and about learning to let go enough to be able to fly in every way.
It is both funny and heartbreaking, intelligent and tense. Warning: features actual fairy dust.
Whilst it is a fantastic production it needed dialling up. You may feel a little bit like our ravenous Crocodile – you only got a taster of the main feast.
A truly fine idea for a 21st century Peter Pan, which neither Hickson nor her director Eleanor Rhode has been able fully to realise.
It’s a cliché, but Wendy and Peter Pan really will make you laugh and make you cry. It appeals to children and their parents, and will have you leaving the theatre with a spring in your step, whether you’re aged nine or forty nine.
Rhode and her team compensate for the script’s shortcomings with a lavish staging that includes thrilling fight sequences.
Hickson’s adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s classic tale is a glittering spectacle that is full of heart.
The play’s rumbustiousness gives way, too easily and too often, to a kind of shapeless chaos.
Despite the scope of Hickson's intentions, the unevenness of characterisation and language undermines the momentum, and it is the magic of Wendy's flight, the strong social message and the energy of the performances that lift the production from Hickson's busy script.
Wendy and Peter Pan is a standout Christmas show for everyone, from people who want to ponder on the inherent tragedies of life to those who simply enjoy watching a pirate getting a party on.
