ATC's new Artistic Director Ramin Gray directs Germany's most lauded and performed new play in a co-production with Drum Theatre Plymouth. Roland Schimmelpfennig's previous plays include Push Up (directed by Ramin Gray), The Woman Before, and Arabian Night (ATC).
It’s a curious piece - haunting and riveting one minute; irritating and repetitive the next with menus read out interminably throughout. And one that is sure to divide audiences.
We are left with a greater sense of a writer showing off how cleverly he can resolve the problem he set for himself than with a satisfying sense of the moral interrelatedness of things.
