The set is pretty simple but the level of talent paired with the incredible costume design and tight choreography makes this production feel as though you're watching a performance in the West End.
Packed with talent, familiar songs and a heart full of goodness, Hairspray really should be bottled up and sold.
If you love American high-school type musicals, you’ll love Hairspray. If, like me, you’re not a huge fan of this genre then you probably won’t. But most of those going to the Edinburgh Playhouse to see the show this week will have a fair idea of what to expect.
It’s a heart-warming and empowering tale that just makes you want to get up and dance.
This exuberant production, like a can of hairspray, chokes all resistance and smothers all in its course, showcased in the finale as audience members leapt to their feet, encased in the energy of a show telling you to flaunt your inner self, and don’t stop the beat.
You won’t be able to stop the beat of your hands clapping in thunderous appreciation.
