Red White & Blue

Drama, Horror, Mystery

Film follows the cool, emotionless Erica, who dives into bed with any man she meets. When she is offered a job in a DIY store in Austin, she discovers the kindness of strangers, but also the gruesome shadowy side of it.

The critical consensus

Red, White & Blue is a very serious attempt to strip away the cliché that surrounds horror/thriller staples – like the black widow female and avenging angel – to create a different dialogue. It’s not pleasant or easy to watch but Red, White & Blue is grimly progressive.

****(*)Paul Dale, The List, 16/09/2011

Not a horror film, but an undeniably horrifying one, it depicts believable characters in credibly desperate situations, with none of the usual genre comforts on hand to halt the path to damnation.

****(*)Matt Glasby, Total Film, 23/09/2011

Simon Rumley, who’s been making features for ten years, manages a shocking and provocative first half here, before veering into brutal revenge-torture for a shocking and merely excessive second one.

Unexpected plot twists keep you guessing – it’s dark, twisted and ultra-violent...a must-see for fans of Americana and new British film-makers alike.

Georgie Hobbs, Little White Lies, 29/09/2011

The three leads are superb, Fuller in particular conveying a spiritual damage that has no outlet other than casual sex.

It is a tragic story of some power with echoes of Hubert Selby Jr's novel Last Exit to Brooklyn.
