Glastonbury The Movie In Flashback is a roots-to-branch re-working of the 1996 feature film about the much loved summer festival.
“It’s just such a nice vibe,” says one reveller. “I haven’t really got much more to say.” Trouble is, neither has Mahoney’s film.
The film is at its best when the cameras simply meander through the throng, the music and hubbub blending hypnotically.
It's baggy, it's meandering, it's altogether uncritical. For all that, the film's giddy, carnival-esque air proves infectious.
Unless you were actually present at Glastonbury in 1993, when most of this documentary's footage was shot, it will carry little force either as sentimental souvenir or musical entertainment.
Captivating images make this more than just a simple music doc, but frustrating editing choices hamper the action.
Bags of energy and wit.
