The critical consensus

John Jencks’ drama boasts some nice Cornish scenery, but it’s not enough to offset the clunky dialogue, overwrought performances and Richards’ inability to convince us she’s a violin-playing prodigy.

*(*)(*)(*)(*)Neil Smith, Total Film, 24/03/2014

Even good performances can’t stop The Fold from falling out of memory in a puff of second-hand smoke.

Luke Richardson, Little White Lies, 27/03/2014

McCormack's intelligence has been too long from our screens, but it's wasted on a film that gets sillier and less sympathetic by the minute.

**(*)(*)(*)Mike McCahill, The Guardian, 27/03/2014

The wrinkles here lie in a contrived plot.
