Let it Be is exactly what it says on the programme – ‘A celebration of the music of The Beatles'.
What is gained, however, is the generous gift of witnessing the music from one of the greatest bands ever, played live and pretty much as it might have been had things been different.
Any Beatles fan is sure to enjoy what is on offer, and while the quality of the performance may be inferior to the likes of The Bootleg Beatles, this show certainly offers its audience a good night out.
If nothing else the show – even if it lacks the spontaneity and irreverence of the originals – is a timely reminder of the genius of McCartney and Lennon and their willingness to experiment, mash up musical genres and provide witty, precise, memorable lyrics.
