Like Father like Son... They'll take you for a ride! David Essex stars in the hit West End musical All the Fun of the Fair. Featuring a mix of David Essex hits alongside brand new songs. With crafty cons and candy floss - dodgems and death-defying feats - fairground horses and fights - romance and rock 'n' roll - you're sure to go on a rollercoaster of a ride.
Inspired by David's best selling album... All the Fun of the Fair features a helter skelter of hits such as Winter's Tale, Hold Me Close, Gonna Make You A Star, Me and My Girl - Nightclubbing, Silver Dream Machine and Rock On.
All in all, despite a few negatives, it was a good light hearted night’s entertainment.
As jukebox shows go, this isn't as good as Mamma Mia!, but is far less pleased with itself than We Will Rock You. It trumps both in starring the artist who made the songs famous. If the 1970s was your era, it's worth a punt.
There is a narrative edge to the rest of Essex’ play-list, which adapts well to the musical theatre concept and forms a decent structure on which to hang a story.
Like a whirl on the waltzers, All the Fun of the Fair loops the loops and has its thrills in pop icon Essex. If only someone could find the accelerate button...
