Ambassadors Laura and Rhiannon says: My daughter and I have seen two Oily Cart productions previously, If All The World Were Paper (we saw it three times!) as well as How Long is A Piece Of String? The joy of Oily Cart is the interactive element – don’t expect to go along and just sit, there is gentle participation (whether drawing your favourite food or looking after a “string baby”) which will engage even the shyest or quietest child. The stories unfold beautifully, engaging parents and children alike; imagination, a sense of fun and a connection with the audience is clear in every production. Go and see Oily Cart!
macrobert says: Oily Cart have been creating unique theatre for children since 1981. That’s 30 years, another anniversary, so you can trust that they will leave you amazed.
It is bizarre and preposterous. But it's not the story – which meanders a bit – but the way it's delivered that makes this show such a pleasure.
The wealth and wit of the visual detail in Clair de Loon's design really goes the extra mile, as do the generous, enthusiastic performances that keep the children totally on-side - and occasionally on their feet.
Three decades on, Oily Cart remain the ringmasters of children's theatre
