At the top of a tall tower an aging dictator writes the story of his life. The only chapter remaining is the final one. When a young soldier arrives, that chapter is ready to begin, though whether it will go exactly the way he has planned remains to be seen.
The end result is an entertaining, and pointed, satirical sideswipe at political power gone haywire – and Mulgrew steals the show with fine comic timing.
Lynn finds himself with nothing to offer – this time around – but a series of cynical and slightly feeble jokes about vanity and face make-up; and about the contagion of megalomania, which apparently passes from one generation to the next, like wildfire.
