The critical consensus

Alongside the high production values, Cinderella relies heavily on this atmosphere but, as Dunbar makes clear, a little variation brings a more immediate vitality and personality.

Gareth K Vile, The Stage, 07/12/2012

The end result is quality stuff, performed with an energetic, rib tickling comic edge, sure to delight.

Alan Chadwick, STV, 07/12/2012

Long reign the King's panto! This production of Cinderella adds another jewel to the sparkling crown of one of Glasgow's most beloved theatres. A visit to the King's panto is as much a part of the traditional Glasgow Christmas as a trek to see the lights at George Square.

Throw in some hilarious ad-libbing from the cast, add lashings of “ooh, ahh, awww and hahaha” moments throughout and it would seem writer Eric Potts has found the perfect recipe for a perfect panto.

Adelle Hopkins, Theatre in Scotland, 01/12/2012

This latest take on Cinderella is studiedly traditional and all the better for it, whipped up to a fast pace by director Tony Cownie and visually marvellous both for the sets, the costumes and the effects.

It’s not a perfect panto, and it’s sometimes just a shade self-indulgent; but it captures the very essence of topsy-turvey, Christmas magic, and it does it in memorable style.
