Julius Caesar

Part of Bard in the Botanics 2013 season

“Men at some time are masters of their fates; The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, But in ourselves…” Read more …

Glorious Caesar has returned to Rome after triumph in battle. The city celebrates but all is not well. Some Romans suspect that Caesar’s reign will end in tyranny and dictatorship. What can the noble Brutus do when faced with an impossible choice – Remove the tyrant or live in slavery?

‘It must be by his death.’

And who can you trust when you yourself have committed an act of such utter betrayal?

Performed in the intimate surroundings of the Kibble Palace Glasshouse by a cast of four, this electric new production offers you the chance to get up and close and personal with the ultimate political thriller.

The critical consensus

An astonishingly powerful account of this great play, in which the sharp lines of the drama emerge unscathed from director Jennifer Dick’s radical adaptation, and are delivered to the audience with a thrilling, visceral force.
