Two buddies put on a show in a magical Vermont Inn, finding their perfect mates in the process. With an all-star cast of over 30 and a dynamic 17 piece orchestra this spectacular musical is full of tap dancing, laughter and some of the greatest songs ever written.
The chemistry between Bob and Betty maybe needs a little extra something to get you to care about the outcome but that is a minor gripe about an otherwise brilliant show for Christmas and an alternative to the usual Pantomimes on offer.
Vivid, vibrant and visually stunning, a treat for the ears and eyes and set to be as timeless a classic as its movie namesake.
A cracker of a Christmas show. But Bob and Betty’s much-signposted affair, on which several of the big numbers rest, stands out from what is a technically superb, but emotionally undercharged production.
It would be churlish to criticise any element of the production too harshly when the combination of Irving Berlin’s music and those fantastic routines make the whole thing like a patterned Christmas jumper – warm, great fun and only to be scorned by inveterate killjoys.
It’s brought to life with a warm, spectacular and rewarding energy in this well-established touring production.
With its winning mix of nostalgia, classic tunes, big budget production values and a healthy dash of holiday magic, White Christmas offers the perfect alternative to the usual festive theatrical offerings.
The production rushes impatiently towards that titular singalong finale – so it’s a good thing that when it gets there, all sense of festive cheer is restored, and then some.
