Annie Get Your Gun

When Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show comes to town, it only takes one glance for sharp-shooting country girl Annie Oakley to fall head over heels for its star marksman, Frank Butler. Both have truly met their match, revealing their competitive natures as they vie for best shot - and each other’s hearts. Read more …

Featuring the all-time classic hits There’s No Business Like Show Business, Doin’ What Comes Natur’lly and Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better, led by a live grand orchestra, Annie Get Your Gun brings the heart of Broadway in this major new production.

The night belongs to Emma Williams. She drags the show by the scruff of the neck and kicks it in touch on more than one occasion. She can't speed up Ian Talbot's production when the action flags but she has a bloody good try.

It’s a shame that Jason Donovan’s Frank tends to fire vocal blanks in the singing department. But the supporting cast and ensemble are all bang on target in a revival that will appeal to a wide audience.

Roger Foss, The Stage, 23/05/2014

The dancing and ensemble work never disappoint, but this neutralised revision leaves a rather toothless impression of the old, mild west.

The result is an enjoyable spectacle that entertains. Unfortunately though, on the whole, the production overshoots the mark and it’s not quite enough to put the spark back into what should be a great feel good musical.

Annie Get Your Gun has been entertaining audiences since 1946 and, having appeared in a High School production of it, it’s clear that it still appeals to audiences of all ages. It has songs, dance, laughter and love, what’s not to like?
