Sports Day

A day to remember…or maybe forget! Sports Day is a large scale community production boasting material from some of Scotland’s best-known playwrights and songwriters. Read more …

It’s school sports day. Teachers, parents, families and pupils gather on the school playing field to witness the annual summer spectacle. Skint knees, grass stains and forgotten gutties. A day of winners and losers. A day that will burn bright in the memory of the young and the not so young.

A revue show featuring great new songs alongside funny and moving sketches inspired by Glasgow and its people.

This production will be presented by a cast of non-professional performers drawn from all areas of the city and accompanied by a live band.

The critical consensus

What is important to remember is that this is a community play; these are not professional performers. Where Sports Day is a winner is that this is never clear: the cast are strong and energy is high.

Fraser MacDonald, The Public Reviews, 05/06/2014

Sports Day is one of those shows that could not succeed at all without superb, generous and supremely non-competitive team-work from everyone involved.
