The critical consensus

Sondheim it isn’t, but it never claims to be, it’s a feelgood, escapist piece of fluff. It will certainly send you home with a smile on your face and a spring in your step and it might just help you forget your troubles for a few happy hours. What more could you want from a show.

If you are looking to have the time of your life, head down to the King’s and catch Dirty Dancing, you will not be disappointed.

*****Allana Brown, Theatre in Scotland, 30/08/2014

Despite the skill and commitment of so many performers, ultimately this is not wholly successful either as a celebration or as a show in its own right. There is fun here for hardcore fans but the suspicion remains that more fun might be had watching that DVD again.

This brilliant production of Dirty Dancing will make your heart soar as high as Baby’s legendary lift!

*****Irene Brown, Edinburgh Guide, 27/02/2015

It’s all fabulous fun, if a bit forgettable.

The production does not necessarily disappoint, although it certainly does not live up to the legendary status of the film. A feel good night out is guaranteed, but think twice before paying top dollar for tickets.
