The adored & critically acclaimed Olivier Award winning rock spectacular is returning on a much anticipated 25th anniversary UK tour. Read more …
Inspired by Shakespeare’s The Tempest and packed with rock ‘n’ roll classics such as Heard It Through the Grapevine, Young Girl, Great Balls of Fire and Gloria with stunning special effects and a brilliant cast of actor musicians this is the great night out to remember! Bring everyone... dress up fancy and get ready for blast off!
Verdict: An energetic and intermittently entertaining revival of a curious hybrid of film, rock’n’roll and Shakespeare.
A show that remains the ultimate retro-futurist mainstream pop-art mash-up.
Jokey, joyous, irreverent, infectious, its ability to get an audience on its feet remains undiminished after all these years – it’s good to have it back.
Overall, the performance offers a fun, energetic experience of comedy, rock ‘n’ roll and Shakespeare.
Where Carlton’s production scores, though, is in its sheer chutzpah, its flashy good looks, and the thrilling quality of the musical performance.
This really is a brilliant night out, a take on The Tempest that goes down a storm. I can’t wait to return to the Forbidden Planet.
Filled with hit songs but not much else, the show is far more of a disappointment than a spectacle.
A show that doesn't do anything original but still manages to feel fresh and be reliably entertaining.
The music however really lifts things up and the vocals of the cast are impeccable along with their musicianship. Despite a few lulls this is an invigorating, fun show that should appeal to all humans.
