Billy is a young man born deaf and raised in a loud, opinionated family and yet his parents and siblings never bothered to learn sign language, meaning Billy had to adapt to a hearing world.

The critical consensus

This is a lovingly portrayed poem to destroying the ones who care the most and how the simplest words can be misinterpreted – either wilfully or unintentionally.

This beautifully crafted play.

****(*)Joyce McMillan, 26/09/2015

Well acted, combining speech and BSL effectively, and with an intelligent use of subtitles and projected images, it is an often cleverly written, occasionally moving, but frustratingly uneven piece of theatre.

Mark Brown, Scottish Stage, 05/10/2015
