Handbagged

Liz vs. Maggie: Two enduring icons born in the same year. One destined to rule, the other elected to lead. But when the stiff upper lip softened and the gloves came off, which one had the upper hand?

The critical consensus

Susie Blake and Sanchia McCormack play their respective versions of Thatcher with a pitch-perfect haughtiness matched by Kate Fahy and Emma Handy's takes on her majesty. Of course, Thatcher has the last word, and yes, it is as negative as much else during her inglorious reign.

Overall, the piece is entertaining both to the politically aware as well as those with no prior knowledge. It is an accessible, sharp-tongued, well-written piece of drama that has been carefully produced. Certainly one not to miss.

****(*)Fraser MacDonald, The Reviews Hub, 03/11/2015

An inventive, very funny and surprisingly subtle piece of theatre.

****(*)Hugh Simpson, All Edinburgh Theatre, 03/11/2015

Although her play sparkles with brilliant one-liners, and offers a hugely enjoyable night out, its subject is an immensely serious one, handled with both sharpness and subtlety.
