Big and vibrant, with superb production values, plenty of great tunes and glitz and some solid underlying storytelling.
What there's no denying is that this is Fun with a capital F, and whilst it's a departure from the traditional panto, personally I didn't miss the cries of "oh no he didn't" and from the response of the audience around me neither did they.
Over-the-top and hugely enjoyable.
The overall result is enjoyable, although it does not live up to the hype attached to the show. Expect the songs to stick in your head for days but not much more.
Combines outrageous cross-dressing spectacle with an element of genuine, rebellious agitprop.
Director Simon Phillips brings a great cast and band together for what is surely a true alternative to panto season.
Gaudy, glamorous, glitzy and bitchy, with one-liners as dry as their desert location, all delivered with pizzazz and panache and a perfectly incongruous Aussie drawl.
