Al fresco productions are a rare treat when the sun is shining, but this one deserves a more intimate level of engagement.

If the final scenes of this sharply-cut version seem abrupt, and suffer from the absence of some of Shakespeare’s perfectly-paced poetry, the overall effect is strikingly raw and vivid.

In all, this is an interesting production that makes some bold decisions to compensate for tight restrictions. It has some valuable things to say about the play, but isn't particularly successful as a production.
