Yes – we’ll all go to the ball! Read more …
This Christmas we welcome back the magic of the Fairy Godmother, the sparkle of a pair of glass slippers and of course the beautiful (oh no they’re not!) Ugly Sisters as Cinderella, the Godmother of all pantos, makes a welcome return to the King’s Theatre.
Returning for the second year running as one half of them awfy Ugly Sisters is Gregor Fisher (Rab C Nesbitt, Naked Video). Gregor’s old chum Tony Roper (Rab C Nesbitt, The Steamie) is back in his squad as a fellow ugly alongside King’s panto favourite Des Clarke (Capital FM) as Buttons. River City’s Gary Lamont stars as Dandini with Elaine MacKenzie Ellis (Rab C Nesbitt, Me Too) as the Fairy Godmother also taking to the ballroom floor. Completing the cast is our Prince Josh Tevendale (Avenue Q) and of course, Cinderella herself, Gillian Ford. It’s gonnae have to be some size of pumpkin carriage for this lot!
So don’t delay, for midnight is coming, book now and start preparing your best frock – it takes the Uglies a whole year to get ready for a big night out!
And remember - Cinderella can choose her friends, but she cannae choose her family!
Those looking for a good, safe night out will find little to be disappointed in, where those looking for more depth will only find shallow waters.
The brilliantly executed song and dance numbers from the cast make Cinderella the ultimate Christmas extravaganza.
It would be unfair to describe Cinderella as anything other than enjoyable. From the outset, this is a show packed with song, fun and frolics – and just a hint of magic.
Cinderella makes a perfect family outing for Christmas.
The result is a genuinely heart-warming entertaining evening that you won’t find anywhere else—and that, surely, is the point.
This classic tale becomes a little migraine-inducing, like too many sweets.
Presented with real sparkle.
One can’t help but feel that, once again, despite Des Clarke busting a gut in the jester role, the King’s panto isn’t quite firing on all cylinders.
King's Theatre, Glasgow from Friday December 2, 2016, until Sunday January 8, 2017. More info: www.theambassadors.com/kings/
