Despite terrific work from the stalwart cast dressed in the fantastic and beautifully made costumes from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, the magic dust is a wee bit thin on the ground with the show lacking real oomph and feeling a bit like Panto by numbers.
A show which was greeted by warm applause and much approval.
Mark Cox and the Brunton have crafted another charming yearly pantomime, it continues from the success of last year’s Cinderella but builds little from it. It ticks all of the panto boxes and even generates a few more laughs here and there.
The tiny chorus of Musselburgh kids sing and dance their hearts out; and the stage fairly bursts with panto spirit, as East Lothian celebrates itself and Christmas, in a a merry final burst of song and laughter.
