ETT has created an intense and compelling production of a modern classic which is highly recommended.
This is a slow and quiet production, dark around the edges.
More slice of life drama than supernatural thriller, The Weir may make you feel a little kindlier towards your fellows. And that can’t be bad.
It’s a lovingly crafted, warm-hearted story that slowly draws you in, and builds to a rewarding end. After a slow start it manages to get over being in a space that feels far too big for the story.
An emotional, ponderous piece that feels as homely as its set, The Weir is an array of regulars with irregular tales to tell, warming themselves with a pint and a seat round the fire as the audience warms themselves with the stories and the glow of the King’s Theatre.
