Jemima Levick revives this tale about three sisters coming of age with wit and charm.
The tale’s epic feel belies the production’s compact running time, with the episodic structure linked together by colourful visuals courtesy of the set designer Jean Chan and a lively soundtrack from Novasound.
Re-imagined fairytale captures the love that binds us and the sense of adventure that sends us out into the world.
Kruckemeyer’s understanding and use of the grammar of fairytales and childhood play is enchanting and ensures that this heart-warming story of self-realisation feels shorter than its 70 minutes running time.
Nicely performed and enchanting though it often is, Jemima Levick’s production feels a little too static much of the time.
