Part of Mayfesto 2011

A wildly comic send-up of Irish literature and culture, At-Swim-Two-Birds is a hilariously funny and inventive head-spinning work of meta-fiction, a true masterpiece of Irish literature.

The critical consensus

As performed by a cast of – just five, was it? – Blue Raincoat have produced a magnificently arch flesh and blood personification, not just of the low-attention span peccadilloes of O’Brien’s creative process, but of an entire psyche bursting into bawdily rambunctious life.

The whole show comes as a welcome reminder both that the human imagination knows no bounds; and that art can deal briliantly with big themes of love, creativity and death, while still bringing a smile to the face, and offering a completely surreal belly-laugh.
