Fetch

Fetch

Twa Dugs Theatre, a brand new Leith based company formed in early 2011, present their searing and emotional debut project, Fetch. Read more …

Starting life as a scene entered into the Ignite competition (Playwrights Studio Scotland, BBC Radio Scotland), Fetch was selected as one of the eight finalists. It has since grown to become a fifty minute play which explores how men communicate in an ever changing Scotland and how they deal with growing up, taking responsibility and the transition from boy to man.

Written by playwright Alan Gordon, Fetch looks to discuss how much where we are from impacts the people we become.

Directed by Melanie Jordan (Organic Theatre, Lyceum Youth Theatre), Fetch tells the story of two brothers from Castle Douglas; one moves away while the other has never thought to fly the nest but both must deal with the sudden death of their father. In a muddy field, Douglas (Lewis Kennan) and Andrew (Iain Rutherford) must try and piece together their fragmented relationship in order to stop themselves freefalling towards self-destruction; but that means doing the one thing they never quite got to grips with...talking.
