Cinema Review: Tonight, There's Gonna Be a Jailbreak! Chernozem: Kino!

Missy Lorelei caught some of 85a Collective's recent event at the Glue Factory.

It's late in the Glue Factory. Something is brewing: jasmine tea. Oh yeah, and sadism.

We are led to individual chambers by a dominatrix, where we don prisoner shirts and masks and are forced like the pathetic vermin we are to watch their films; terrible films which will haunt our dreams and waking lives for ever more-Judd's b/w propaganda, featuring Golgotha and the Siamese Twins.

I was a lucky one... I broke out, escaping 85a's hellish hollow-eyed clutches. Others are not quite as fortuitous... Trapped like so much mice, you can still hear their cries in the night as they rock back and forth in their own filth... Their muffled chants of, "we will be free", "fight this brutal tyranny" and, "peanuts!"

Inspired by Communist iconography, industrial noise and the tenets of Nazism in equal measure, CHERNOZEM looks like fun. I only wish I had been well enough to take a beating for the team. But that's showbiz...and a despotic regime...for you.

Footnote: I have just been informed that there were bumper cars...and a slide. Nothing, after all, in 85A's world is ever that simple. If only I didn't have a kidney infection. Sorry folks!
