Dance Review: nowwhatnow

Jo Turbitt enjoys an 'honest' evening of dance theatre.

Curated by Morag Deyes, this programme of pieces delivered humour, talent and choreography directly from the heart of the artists.

Only Deyes could curate such an evening of work, where each piece delivered truthfully and not self-gratifyingly the voice of the dancers, each telling us in their own way where they’re at now. There is a sense of evolution, continuation and development in the artists as they fill the stage telling us ‘What now? This is what’s now.’

A word which I wrote down for each piece was ‘honest,’ which, for an evening of contemporary dance, is a mean feet to achieve. Deyes’ army of eclectic performers were uniquely awesome, which was the hidden beauty of this programme.

Hats off and thanks once again to Morag Deyes and her artistic, creative intuition for giving these artists and their work a platform.

Nowwhatnow has completed its run.
