Lorna Irvine looks at an 'utterly wonderful' group.
Liverpool trio Stealing Sheep are hard to pigeonhole, which is why they're so utterly wonderful.
Just two albums in, and their off-kilter, woozy folk pop from 'Noah and The Paper Moon' and 'Into The Diamond Sun' had seduced taste makers and Heavenly Records, to whom they signed.
New album Not Real is gorgeous, marrying dreamy harmonies with squidgy keyboards and Krautrock churning rhythms. Bucolic, but unsettling, it's as though The Wicker Man met Kraftwerk. True English eccentrics.
Catch Becky Hawley, Emily Lansley and Lucy Mercer in all their bright, odd attire soon at a venue near you.
Not Real is out now on Heavenly.
