Review: Mind How You Go ***

Anna Burnside reviews a ‘charming’ production.

Tall tales are an Irish speciality, and Michelle Burke weaves some heavily embroidered family legends into her musical memoir. There’s the time that Angela Lansbury came to East Cork, as well as the convoluted circumstances around the purchase of a car for Uncle Pat from San Francisco.

Burke pulls it together in a charming mixture of self-composed song and object theatre, deploying a tea towel of her father’s old band (The Aliens), a selection of scarves and a top hat among a jumble sale of other props.

It’s a gentle hour - no church-based scandals and only a scant spattering of politics here. If craic set to keyboards appeals, this is the very fella.

Mind How You Go performs at Zoo Playground (Playground 1) at 12:45 until August 24, 2025.
